“ISAWTHEdustcloudscoveringthesky,”saidayounguniversitylecturer,describingthebombingbyagovernmentwarplaneofaresortontheoutskirtsofAlamata,asmalltowninEthiopia’snorthernregionofTigray.InnormaltimesAlamataisknownforitsbeautifulgreenmountains.NowitisabattlegroundinEthiopia’scivilwar,whichbrokeoutonNovember4thbetweenthefederalgovernmentandTigray’srulers,theTigrayanPeople’sLiberationFront(TPLF).
